Milcotec has quietly passed an important milestone: 10 years of operation built on steady growth, technical expertise and flexible solutions for dairy farmers. What began with the brokerage of used milking robots has developed into a diversified business covering milking systems, feeding equipment, service, spare parts and financing.
Milcotec ApS has demonstrated its strong performance by being named a Gazelle company by Børsen for three consecutive years in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The company was founded on 13 November 2007 by Gerth Petersen together with Iver Mørk. Both founders previously worked at Lely and decided to combine their experience to build an independent business within dairy technology.
In 2010, Iver Mørk sold his share of the company to Gerth Petersen in order to establish his own business. For a period, Gerth Petersen ran Milcotec as a one-man operation, continuing to develop the company step by step.
“In the beginning, we focused on brokering used milking robots. Demand exceeded all expectations in the first years, before the market gradually stabilised,” says Gerth Petersen.

Becoming a DairyMaster distributor
To strengthen the business further, Milcotec became a distributor of DairyMaster milking systems in Denmark and Sweden in 2011. Today, this activity is handled through the subsidiary Dairy Systems Danmark.
“It took a great deal of hard work to establish DairyMaster in the Danish market. But over the past two to three years, Danish dairy farmers have truly embraced the Irish brand,” says Gerth Petersen.
In March 2012, Milcotec expanded its activities to include service and maintenance of Lely milking robots, followed in 2014 by the distribution of Kilco cleaning products for all types of milking systems. This proved to be a natural extension of the company’s growing product portfolio.
Expansion into feeding systems and financing
In May 2015, Milcotec became a distributor of Urban milk feeding systems from Germany, which have since gained a strong foothold in the market.
A major strategic step was taken in April 2017 with the establishment of Milcotec Finans, the company’s own financing entity.
“By having our own financing company, we have largely freed ourselves from dependence on banks,” explains Gerth Petersen.
Milcotec Finans has proven to be a strong asset, supporting business growth by financing both purchase agreements and leasing contracts for customers.

Leasing milking equipment as a competitive advantage
Milcotec offers leasing of both milking robots and mobile milking parlours, a service that sets the company apart within the industry.
Today, Milcotec employs 14 people. Five work in service and installation, three in the warehouse, three in administration and three in sales. In addition, the company has specialised in used and refurbished spare parts, helping customers reduce costs without compromising reliability.
“Our strength lies in the combination of financing, leasing and technical expertise. On top of that, we have highly skilled employees specialising in repairs, new installations and expansion of existing milking systems,” says Gerth Petersen.
Looking ahead, expectations remain positive.
“I expect Milcotec to continue growing in the coming years,” he concludes.
