The dairy equipment supplier Milcotec from Aabenraa has been shortlisted for the South Jutland Business Award, following several years of focused digital development and international growth.
The nomination recognises companies that have distinguished themselves through digitalisation, and for Milcotec it marks an important milestone in a long-term strategy centred on e-commerce, data-driven processes and customer accessibility.
Digital focus reshaped the business
Milcotec supplies spare parts and equipment for milking robots and milking systems. Over recent years, the company has made significant investments in digital platforms to make it easier for farmers to access parts without relying solely on traditional, local supply channels.
“Our goal is to make spare parts available when and where farmers need them,” says CFO Kenny Jensen.
“Digital solutions allow customers to find the right part quickly instead of driving to a local workshop every time something breaks.”
The strategy has proven successful. Today, approximately 60 percent of Milcotec’s revenue comes from international markets, supported by increased online visibility and a growing webshop offering both new and refurbished spare parts.
International customers embrace online purchasing
According to Kenny Jensen, Milcotec’s digital presence has been particularly effective outside Denmark.
“In several foreign markets, customers are already very comfortable using our webshop. We are visible, easy to find and offer parts that are often difficult to source locally,” he explains.
As demand has grown, so has the company. Milcotec has expanded its workforce in line with increasing international activity, reinforcing both operations and customer support.
Continued investment in digital infrastructure
The nomination for the South Jutland Business Award is seen as recognition of the company’s digital journey, but Milcotec views it as a step along the way rather than a final destination.
“It’s genuinely motivating to see that our digital efforts are being noticed,” says Kenny Jensen.
“But we are far from finished.”
Over the past three to four years, Milcotec has invested heavily in digital marketing, webshop development, international market targeting and social media strategy. The next phase will focus on strengthening internal systems.
Planned initiatives include a new IT platform, increased process automation and the development of advanced reporting and data systems.
“Internal efficiency is essential if we want to keep scaling the business,” says Kenny Jensen.
“A strong digital backbone allows us to grow without losing control.”
Recognition among leading regional companies
The South Jutland Business Award is presented by JydskeVestkysten in cooperation with Erhvervshus Sydjylland. The award honours companies that have excelled in digitalisation, green transition and export.
